Welcome to Sharing Savings With You!
Who am I?My name is Julie and I am married to a wonderful man and we're the proud parents of a very active 3yr old son. We live in Knoxville, Tennessee, close to the Smoky Mountains. I work full-time as a children's librarian and I love my job! I teach a Smart Shoppers coupon class at the library, where I share with others how to save money while they shop. I also manage Coupon Swap baskets both at the library and at my church, Kodak United Methodist, to share coupons with others.
Where did Sharing Savings With You come from?
I started this blog in January 2010 to share how I was saving money shopping with my family and friends. I've always used coupons, thanks to the influence of my mother and grandmother. But I really started extreme couponing in April 2009, when I discovered the blog, Hip2Save. I discovered that I can save my family at least 50% on our weekly groceries and toiletries by matching coupons with weekly sales.
How has Sharing Savings With You changed since it began?
- In April of 2010, I began "Thankful Thursday" giveaways, featuring Etsy shops who donated handmade items for giveaways.
- In the September of 2010, I realized that as a mommy blogger I can help companies promote their businesses by reviewing their products and posting about them on my blog. I also began offering giveaways from companies as a way to promote their products. This has been a lot of fun for my family, since we love trying out new products!
- In October 2010, I helped promote Disney Princesses On Ice for Feld Entertainment, by sharing a discount code with readers and also offering a ticket giveaway. Since then, I've helped promote the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam, Disney Live! Mickey's Magic Show, The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, and the Titanic Museum Attraction. Future projects include the upcoming Disney on Ice, "100 Years of Magic" show.
- In February 2011, I realized that I was unable to keep up with the number of available product review opportunities that come my way, so I decided to form a Review Crew. Since there's only one of me, I've enlisted help from some close friends and family who have a wide range of interests. The crew members will review items in their own words, but the final review will be a compilation of the product information and the honest opinions of the reviewer. As the owner of the blog, I will oversee every review before it's published.
